Brighton / Sandgate is between 16-19km (1/2 hour drive) from Brisbane’s CBD. Wide streets, predominantly timber houses – some beautifully renovated – and established gardens plus the proximity to the water makes Brighton / Sandgate a family friendly and relaxed suburb to live in.

Dining / Entertainment


There are plenty of great dining options in and around Brighton/Sandgate. Local cafés; take-aways; pubs overlooking the bay; RSL and Bowls Clubs or fine dining restaurants.

Shopping


There is good local shopping; however, major shopping centres such as Westfield are only a short distance away.

Educational Options


We have loads of options in relation to playgroups, childcare and schools, both primary and secondary (private and state). University of Technology and North Point Institute of TAFE located in close proximity at Carseldine and Bracken Ridge respectively.

Out and About – Leisure and Sporting Facilities.


Golf Course, PCYC, Skate Park, Tennis Courts, Squash Courts, City Council Swimming Pool with water play area and slides for children, Lawn Bowls Clubs, loads of waterfront parks plus reserves with walking tracks, bicycle tracks, and dog walking areas.

Water Activities


Two Yacht Clubs plus Marina with direct access to Moreton Bay from Cabbage Tree Creek as well as we are one of the well known “meccas” for Kitesurfing. This area is also the official start point for the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race which is an annual event. Viewing from the Shorncliffe pier or any vantage point along the waterfront is exceptional.

Community Services and Government


Government offices, local libraries, churches, volunteer organisation, ward offices, nursing / retirement home are features in the area.

The airport is an easy 20 minute travel with good access to major arterial roads (Gateway to the North and South Coasts).

Sandgate has its own train station and is also serviced by Council and private bus services.

Demographic –


Over 41% of households in this area consist of couples with children, 38% are couples without children and 19% are single parent households. Stand-alone houses make up over 91% of the dwellings in this area, and townhouses account for another 3%. (figures provided from ourbrisbane.com)

There has been an increase in young families moving to the area because of proximity to city and options for leisure and family activities.
